"Was just denied a claim for our 7 year old washing machine. The transmission had gone and I was told it was a pre-existing condition and was not covered. You are supposed to know before you sign up I guess if there is any known or unknown pre-existing conditions. Cancelled our policy as I do not want to have to worry about anything else go wrong and to find out it was pre-existing. We have a 17 years old condo with 7 year old appliances. "Choice Home Warranty is a Scam!! They cover very little for any appliance or home system. Their exclusions are every major element so when you file a claim, they have no responsibility. I have a refrigeration leak in a refrigerator and the exclusions are: racks, shelves, lighting and handles, Freon, ice makers, ice crushers, beverage dispensers and their respective equipment, water lines and valve to ice maker, line restrictions, leaks of any kind, interior thermal shells, food poilage, doors, door seals and gaskets, hinges, glass audio/visual equipment and internet connection components. "My experience with Choice home Warranty has been terrible. I have made two claims for my HVAC units. the first was completely denied based on their decision that the system was \"unbalanced\" since the Air Handler had already been replaced and didn\'t \"match\" the old compressor. I replaced it at my own expense. The 2nd claim on my other unit has been going on for over two weeks, and all i get is the \"run-around\" of them requesting maintenance records and proof that the other unit was indeed replaced. I am sure they will find a reason not to pay, rather than honor their committment. READ YOUR CONTRACT... almost NOTHING is covered! JIM"

"Choice Home warranty is the worse, they send incompetent techs that are crooks also. After 2 visit to my home to repair my AC unit that went out when we are having 100degree weather, the company refused to replace my unit which they could no longer purchase parts due to the age of the unit. They stated that my claim was denied due to lack of maintenance, which I was never asked about during the calls. I told the tech at the initial service call that I just paid $400 to have the unit serviced. The people stated they needed additional documents. I expressed to them that at this point they are looking for any reason not cover my claim. This company is the worst and I wouldn\'t recommend anyone to use them."

"We had a pipe and shut off valve leaking coming into the water heater at the top. We called and a service tech came out and discovered that the water heater was also leaking at the bottom of the unit. The tech said, no problem it will be covered. The warranty company denied the water heater as I expected because they do not cover tanks. They also denied the replacement of the water pipes that were leaking. They stated it was part of the heater. The lady supervisor I spoke with was very rude and short. Would not recommend this company - Tommy S, VA 23452"

"I\'ve had nothing but bad service from choice home warranty. Even vendors they sent to my house say they were lousy and tried everything they could to not pay for services. I ended up buying me a new washer, dryer, hot water heater and A/C unit because on different calls they did not help me with issues. Ended up having maintenance done to AC unit was told there was a problem called choice they had me pay another vendor to come say same thing and rejected my services which costed me twice."

"They rejected my claim to fix my washer so I ended up buying the pump and fixed it myself. What I really have a problem with is the customer service rep calls up my wife and tells her to send him the part's invoice in which we did promptly to see if they can at least reimburse us for some of the cost for the pump. He emphasizes they want to keep our business. We get a call back the next day stating they can't do anything. Why tell us in the first place to send them the invoice when they had absolutely no intention of reimbursing us. Not a good practice!! --Sam"

"We have wasted many hours on the phone with them to resolve two seperate issues. The first was finally resolved by us finding our own repairmen through our own research. The second issue was strung out by them for 3-4 weeks. We double checked everything we were told and found out they were not always right about the information they offered. Poor quality, questionable service reps, and they will screen your claims for high cost service and will find a way not to cover it.- Sherry W."

"Old Republic has AWFUL customer service. The company is so large that they cannot (and from my experience they do not) truly know the vendors they send out. The vendor's communication with Old Republic is also a major issue with me. The service provider sent to my home wasn't aware of my conversations with Old Republic, and on the other end, Old Republic took weeks to process the provider's report.- Micheal M"

"We have had Old Republic for a year. We have had our furnace, air conditioning and refrigerator fixed as well as a dishwasher fully replaced under our warranty with Old Republic. I'd rather have to wait a day or two extra than have to pay the thousands out of pocket that the repairs and replacement might have cost us.- Elizabeth"

"I had a problem with my dishwasher not turning on last week and they dispatched an appliance repairman who came the next day and he said that it needed a new control board which he needed to order. Empire gave them authorization to order the parts and they were back 4 days later to install it. I was surprised to get a call from Empire a day later to make sure i was happy.- Jackie V."

"I should have read more reviews on choice before i purchased my policy with this company. The customer service is the worst I've ever encountered, not exaggerating. They won't return a phone call. I've called 3-4 times a day for the past 8 days, waiting 15 minutes each time to get an actual person. They are completely rude. It's now going on my forth month of dealing with my appliance issue. I'm so stressed by Choice Home Warranty I could rip my hair out. I'm reporting them to the BBB, which they ARE NOT accredited with. I'm not renewing my contract. We had a different home warranty before but switched because Choice was cheaper, it's worth the extra money going somewhere else. -Jill"

"My refrigerator went on the blink...called Choice. They sent out a technician after calling several times. The technician said the refrig couldn't be fixed because Choice told the technician the fridge was too old to get the necessary parts. According to my contract I should have either had my refrig fixed or replaced. They did neither. They did offer me a settlement (take it or leave it) to put toward a new fridge. "This company is a rip off, many of the contractors they use are unreliable and incompetant. I feel that they automatically deny all claims made and if you call them out multiple times you may get lucky where they actually approve something. I have made 5 service calls to them over the last year and only one of them was approved. As of today I am canceling my existing plans with them as they only prolong the repair process which I end up having to pay for anyhow."

"Our oven went out about a month ago and Choice Home Warranrty has sent a service person here 4 times to "look" at it and thats all thats happened. They keep saying they need to order a part and to call them back in a couple days. When we do they told us that they were researching it. When we called Choice Home Warranty to complain they said we needed to call the service company to get it fixed. So now we are without an oven to cook Christmas dinner and all the food we bought for it. Also, since Choice Home Warranty will not help us, we will have to find some where to take out 6 people for Christmas dinner since we have no way to cook it. "

"I have used Choice Home Warranty since i purchased my home. I Have continued to use even after we moved out and decided to keep as a rental property. Although there were a couple of times I was unsure of what they covered, if they indeed didn't cover it, they explained why, showed me where on the contract it stated such, and helped me get the fixes I needed (on my dime though). Choice home Warranty alwasy tryed to help me best."

" this company sucks, i am 73,my wife 69.my furnace quit the week before christmas,i caaled i service in and they put another monthly of $40.00 that day. we spent many nights with the temp below 40 degrees. both of us got sick,i had to go to the hospital. well today jan 10 they fixed the furnace, a $20.00 part,1 hour labor. this is the kind of service to others i have discoverd they give all there customer. i want a refund of my fees and taking this up with the florida stae attorny and b.b b richard fogle richard fogle -Quincy, FL "
