"Old Republic doesn\'t really deserve one star, but it wasn\'t possible to select ZERO. Good customer service over the phone, but terrible customer support. We have a plumbing leak that, according to our home warranty policy (and Old Republic) is covered. But then the technician arrived, took apart the pipes, and then told us that it was not a simple repair so he couldn\'t fix it; it would probably not be covered by Old Republic. Really? So now we are out the $60 service fee and have an even worse leak. And have to bring in another plumber to fix an even bigger problem. Please. DO. NOT. PURCHASE. OLD. REPUBLIC. HOME. WARRANTY. -Robert Simpson"

"Wish there was a rating less than one star. I have been a policy holder for a number of years. I had a plumbing leak this past year and they sent three contractors out and couldn\'t find the leak. I finally hired my own contractor who found and repaired the leak. The company reimbursed me for a good portion of the repairs ($1,500). That was the good news. When policy renewal time came (9/04/14) I did not get a renewal notice so I called the company and was informed \"the system is not renewing you\". After questioning 3 employees about who makes the non-renewal decision, and told it was the \"system\", I finally gave up. They took my premium for years and when the claims came they bailed on me. NOT A GOOD INSURANCE COMPANY. Hal, Florida"

"I wish you had a thumbs down on your rating system. I recently had a claim for my pool heater that had sprung a leak. A pool service company that works for Old Republic came out and checked the PH with out looking at anything else. He said the PH was low and left. My pool is checked weekly and is always maintained perfectly. On the basis of his test strip Old Republic denied the claim. Do not purchase Old Republic Insurance. They will do anything to deny your claim. Ray S. Maricopa Arizona"

"I have had the service for 15 years. The service has gotten much worse over the past several years. I have just had a horrible experience with them and would highly recommend that if you want a home warranty look else where. I have cancelled my service and asked for a refund for the remainder of the contract."

"They dont pay as per agreement, WE had a major plumbing leak and had to remove part of my ceiling to get to leak, total bill was $1060 which I have to say is super reasonable for 4 days work and they paid $75. I strongly advise against using them. The guy on the phone refused to allow me to speak with his manager and told me the removeal and replacement of sheetrock should have been about $10, seriously!!!"

"Poor customer service. I am always on hold or hung up on. I always feel like I am being given the run-around when I call in. I am transferred from department to department, and I am told totally different explanations for my denied claims each time. -Anthony G."

"Had this warranty service upon buying my new condo. So far they have been good. They always put in the service request quickly even though it might take a while for the actual contractor to call or come out. The trade fee was decent at 55$. I recently had a motor in my AC changed. It was a $500 job but I only paid the $55 trade fee. Rachel C. "

" I got Old Republic as my home warranty after my home closed last August. They have been great. I have had to contact them twice and both times they sent someone right away. I would highly recommend their service- Karen Beaty, Houston, TX "

"I was on hold 35+ minutes the first time I called. When I called back to check on the repair I was on hold for 25 minutes. They do a good job with the repairs but the "hold” time is unacceptable. -Daniel"

"After paying $60 for the service call, coverage was eventually denied because, according to them, leaky toilet was improperly installed before we moved in. Wasn't that one of the reason why home warranties exist, to protect buyers of unforeseen pre-existing problems? Otherwise, it useless—too many exclusions and misleading statements on the coverage. So here we are down $60 and still with a leaky toilet. Plumber said he can do it outside of the warranty but it will cost around $150 on top of the $60."

"The ladies that work there are nice enough. The actual warranty itself isn't that great. It doesn't ever seem to cover what is going wrong with my stuff. The "businesses” they contract to come to your home will have you feeling as if you've been robbed by the time they leave. I will not be renewing my home warranty with this company and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone."

"Overall I have had a pretty good experience with Old Republic. They have replaced my a/c and furnace, as well as covered some plumbing problems. In each instance, parts of the work were not covered and I had to pay out of pocket, but the bulk was covered. This seems to be pretty standard practice in the industry. I definitely got my money back out of the policy, so much that they wouldn't let me renew for another year. My only other issue was that they have very few vendors in the area and repair/service often takes a LONG time. However, they did give me the option to hire my own person and reimburse me (which I didn't do). Customer service reps were always friendly and they were really good about calling to let me know the status of my work order and to follow up to make sure the work was satisfactory. "

"This company dropped me because they had to pay out claims on my policy? After receiving horrible service for 2 yrs they probably did me a favor. You have to sit on the phone foe 20 min or better before you get a rep on the phone, They send out uncertified technichians and take forever to send a tech out. After you pay service call fee you get bills saying you didn't pay? This company is horrible don”t waste your money."

"I paid the extra fee to have Old Republic include my pool and spa only to find out when I needed my spa repaired that my spa was not included because it doesn't share equipment with my pool. This was after paying the $60 to have a repair person come out and look at it which they would not reimburse after denying my claim. They also denied a claim to repair a crack in an old gas wall heater saying that the crack was not large enough to warrant repairing. I will NOT be renewing with Old Republic. What a disappointment."

"I have just renewed my warranty with Old Republic Home Warranty for the 3rd year. I have been very pleased with Old Republic Home Warranty. They are always quick to respond to my request for service. They have fixed my ac several times as well as my washer and my dryer. The only complaint I have is having to wait almost week for a compressor for my ac twice. Apparently it was not installed correctly the first time. Other than that the service has been quick and courteous. "

"I have had Old Republic Home Warranty for a little while now. I Bought a new house and nothing is covered. I was told if an appliance doesn't work on the first time use then it's not covered. I've replaced a water Heater, a furnace and a dishwasher on my own dollar. I am very disspaointed with Old Republic Home Warranty.."

"I'm a two year customer with Old Republic. This was my first time filing a claim, their service person showed up for a dishwasher repair; very unprofessional, LATE,and rude.I received a call from Old Republic stating they are declining the repair. Even though the service man said it was a defective part. I will NOT be renewing when my contract is up."

"I have had Old Republic Home warranty for the year of 2012. I did have a few issues where they came out in a timely manner and resolved the issue, I paid my deductible and I was fine with it. Now it is time to renew my warranty for 2013 and my policy cost has gone up about $250.00. Wow, What's up with that? I surely did not cost them enough for that kind of stab in the back. I read the reviews and the rating for this company and the reviews on the BBB are less than impressive. I guess it is time to go elsewhere. Loyalty has become a one-way street."

"So far, so good. Had the AC go out in my house the day I moved in. They sent someone the next day (would have been nice to be same day in 100 degree heat but I understand). They got it fixed. All went very well."

"I've had Old Republic for a year now. I paid $370 for the standard plan (which was very comprehensive when compared to others) and added on a $75 roof leak option. The trade call fee was $75 per problem addressed. I used the warranty for a few times throughout the year, so I think I was able to break even if I had not purchased any warranty at all. Some of the service people were better than others, and I've had a few problems with OHP bailing on their promises to follow up on service. Other than that, it's been on okay relationship. I'm now due for renewal, but Old Republic has increased the rates to $500 + $75 (for the same plan I had) with a $100 trade call fee. I really feel like I'm a victim of bait and switch. Please check to see how much renewal fees are with whatever company you choose. I have an old fridge, and old air conditioning unit and furnace, old roof, and old washer/dryer. I may suck it up and go for the payment plan they offer just in case they all go bad, but I'm really not sure if it's worth it."

"I purchased my home in April 2012. The home was built in late 2007. The water heater broke. I called, they said they will have someone come out the next day. When I ask about the $60, I asked if that covers everything- new water heater, installation, labor. The cust service rep assured me yes it covers everything. The contractor company called me at 8am the next morning, great, and was there by 9am. Yes I needed a new water heater. I called Old Republic around 3:30ish pm, and they had not receive the report, they called the contractor and they drop off the report at the end of the day. I get a call this morning, Old Republic authorized the water heater, and it can be replaced tomorrow (2.5 days without hot water, or water to the house unless we want to pay the water company to water our street) but they do not cover the installation to bring it up to code. The T&P line needs to be extended, because on our old water heater it was on the top instead of the side ($100 out of pocket), Code now requires a Gas sediment trap ($75 out of pocket), Permit to install water heater ($60, if I apply for it $150 for contractor to obtain), and removal of old water heater ($75 out of pocket). The way the rep described to me is the $60 would cover the installation of the new water heater. I asked for a check so I can do it myself. They only pay $401.00. At home depot, you cannot get a 50-gal water heater for under $400.00. I truly thought I would pay $60, then the company would come out to my home and replace it- I didn't see spending an extra $400, and Old Republic made sure when I placed the service call not to disclose that I would have to pay any additional costs."

"I have maintained an Old Republic home warranty on my home for at least 5 years. I had a different home warranty company for the 3 years prior to that. Old Republic customer service has been far superior. Overall, the contractors that they have employed are punctual and knowledgeable. I had one problem with one particular contractor that they sent out. I called to express my lack of satisfaction and they immediately sent out a different contractor who resolved my issue. Over the past several years, Old Republic has replaced an entire A/C system and two hot water heaters. They have repaired my dishwasher, stove, ice maker, washer/dryer and corrected numerous plumbing issues. The cost to have repaired and replaced these items on my own would have far exceeded the amount I've paid in premiums and deductibles. I have been very satisfied with Old Republic."

"I had a horrible experience with this company. We had air conditioning problems and they sent a technician out. He barely did an inspection and was wanting to replace the coil without even looking at it or opening it up. He never even found the leak. On top of it, he wrote it was a pre-existing condition without even finding the problem. The customer service was terrible as well. They tried to get me to pay $1200 to replace the coil that didn't need to be replaced. After a lot of arguing I got them to send another technician. He found a loose valve that was leaking, fixed it, and refilled the refrigerant in twenty minutes. I have them on voice mail recording saying that the test had not even been done and that there was a pre-existing condition and demanding money. They obviously don't want to do what they are supposed to do. These are the warranty people you should be warned about. Be weary of their technicians and horrible customer service. "have always been happy with them until today, I have had my 5th day of cold showers. DBK came out yesterday, said they fixed my water tank. NOT So, still a cold shower, I have to wait for DBK to get a report to Old Republic before they will send someone out again to fix it. Since it is now 4pm I dont see this 63 year old person having a warm shower tomorrow either. How sad that a senior citzen cant even get a hot shower after paying almost $700.00 a yr for the service. sandra worling, Orlando, FL "

"In all honesty, they do not tell the truth. We signed up and paid for years. When our A/C unit finally broke it took several weeks of threats and finally a note from our lawyer before they agreed to replace the indoor unit but not the outside. The company that replaced the indoor unit left kinks in the cooling piping (from previous home owners' repairs) that burned out our outside unit because the kinks caused the outside unit to run hot. All of this could have been avoided if the people installing the replacement would have let us know about the kink in the pipes. But when I asked the A/C repairman I use now use he said companies can't comment on anything but the job they are contracted for. Otherwise the home warranty company has to pay for more repairs. Just don't deal with a home warranty company. The deductibles are too high for common repairs and they weasel out of their agreements for bigger replacements. - Bob, Baton Rouge, LA"

"We bought our home in July, We had the mobile home park service our A/C system a week after we moved in. No problems. Come winter, no heat . come to find out mobile home park did not submit our Home warranty till November . called old republic to send a tech out to check heat in December ($55.00 service fee). a jumper was missing, ok fixed . now A/C doesn't work properly, cycles every 10 min.The warranty rep said that our A/C is not covered but they will do it anyway. for another $55.00 . our cooling worked perfectly cycled every hour cooled for 10 min. ,like normal. but we are past the 30 day warranty. its our fault we didn't run the cooling in December. we had no issue with the cooling in December ,just the heat. They will not wave the $55.00 service fee, for the tech to come back out and check his work, then when you ask for a supervisor, they are always "off” that day. This company does not know what customer service is. we pay them and they treat you as if they are doing you a favor. save your money. we will not be renewing our plan with this company. a waste of time and money - sam cunningham, Glendale, AZ"
